The Vortoplast 2 is an indirect macerator in the fact that the inner rubber tank should be empty after completing the flushing cycle, The powerfull motor sucks all the contents out of the box, It is rare to have one that smells !!! Try low foaming bleach flushed through the machine and see if that reduces the smell if not give 01684 594590 and speak to after sales.
First check it is a Vortoplast though. They are the most Faked macerators on the market at the moment if in any doubt ring the above number.
