Focus TDCI heater resistor?

Heater only runs on 4. Changed the resistor it lasted three days and packed up. Changed it again and kept an eye on it. It became too hot to touch so I disconnected it. There must be some other fault causing it to break down. Anyone have any ideas what would be the cause?

Yes I used a genuine replacement Ford part

If the resistor fails again then the fan motor may be partially seized causing it to draw excessive current. I do take it you have used genuie OEM parts not cheep aftermarket copies?
