no compression in engine?

my engine lost all oil and water whilst i was driving. the vheicle is a 95 plate ford escort 1.4. i had a mechanic look at the car and he is confussed. he did a compression check to find no compression. will this be a head gasket or just a seal

if you lost all water and oil it's possible that your engine will have overheated and piston rings have siezed in there grooves causing there to be a lack of compression, also pistons themselves will have picked up in bores scoring them.

The mechanic should have found at least some compression on a couple of cylinders - which would indicate a head gasket problem. If he didn't find any compression on any cylinder, maybe the timing belt has snapped.
