Washer makes noise when it spins?

My washer makes noise at start of spin cycle. If I push the button so it thinks the lid is closed and start spinning the tub it will take off. My machine is a whirlpool. Model LSR8233EQO

It sounds like you either have something stuck between the inner and outer tub, a loose tub ring, broken or worn motor coupler, or bad spin tub or block drive. You will need a special spanner wrench (whirlpool manu.) to remove block drive to access outer tub. Go to www3.sears.com for a complete breakdown of you washer. There is no spin bearing on this washer. The unit is very modular and easy to tear apart and rebuild. good luck

I have the same problem with my Maytag Atlantis, or I did until it quit spinning altogether. The problem seems to be the spin bearing which rest on top the tansmission. This is an ugly repair, I am still looking for instructions.
