We have a ML 270 cdi and are having problems in removing the Injectors does anyone know the best way. Also all the gunk is ground on them does anyone have any suggestions in removing this.

If you require the tool for removing the injectors in the UK www.toolhire.co.nr will rent a special puller at a reasonable price. It certainly helps to do it on a hot engine as it's expands the alloy head a bit.

I have had similar problems and the only way to remove them is with a special tool. In my case it was a Mercedes diesel engineer who helped me out. It is a very delicate operation. The injector has to be stripped down internally to get it out. The other problem is that the bracket that holds it in has a very weak bolt that may shear off. This will then entail a bit of drilling and tapping to accommodate a larger bolt.
As far as the gunk goes - no easy answer for this one.
