It means that the car has developed a problem in either its ignition, fuel or exhaust systems....I would suggest the latter if your car seems otherwise ok. The car needs to have its fault codes read by a garage with suitable diagnostic equipment who will suggest a cure and turn off the light for you once the fault is fixed.
