Condenser Tumble Dryer Smells?

Why does the drum smell of stagnent water?

Try cleaning out the hole at the back at the bottom.
For the hotpoint model cdt40 - Unplug (!) Remover the condenser unit at the front and put your hand in at the back and feel for a hole if it is wet then its not able to do it's job properly. Gently poke a thin straw down the hole (like at the back of our older fridges). Remove any gunk. and dry out the area with a cloth or two. there will be more water than you think here so have two cloths ready. Just let the cloth sit there for 5 mins to soak up water.

As Tim said, run the machine again to finish drying - DONT FORGET to remove all the collecting cloths first!!

Pop in a couple of Tumble Dryer Nice Smelly Sheets (forgot their names).
See how that goes and let us know how you get on!

Thanks for your reply Tim, we've run it with no clothes in, washed everything, made sure filters are clean and still it smells.

run it with no clothes in and see if it drys out.could well be fluff and water getting stuck inside that would require a full strip down and de fluff
