Which Windows xp? Do you have system restore? If yes then set a restore point before you begin. Next go to Start, click help and support. When help opens type camera install in the search box. Once search is finished, on the left it will have tasks listed and one of them will be install a scanner or digital camera. Click on that and the instructions will show up on the right.
