why do I get "file in use by another person or program" a lot?

my computer regularly prevents me from moving or deleting files stating that the "file in use by another person or program"

the files never are in use my any other user or program. is there a tweak i can make to sharpen up window's file handling. why is it not releasing these files when i hav finished using them?

(i use windows xp home)

I have the same problem with XP. Right click on the file bring up the properties of the file, then try to copy or delete.

Second if it is a Windows Media File displaying a picture of the contents of the file. Go to view and change the file icon to a normal symbol.

if you open task manager ctrl+alt+delete and look at what is running you will be able to shut down any particular process and try again
