Programme dial on our Indesit W113 keeps advancing?

On starting a cycle our machine draws water - apparently from both hot & c inlets - and then the drum starts to rotate slowly as normal. However, within a few seconds it stops and the programme dial clicks through to the stop position. The machine drains OK but does not want to run through a wash. Help!

I had to remove the rubber hose between the pump and the bottom of the drum to remove a sock stuck at the bottom of the drum

I'm with Lee. I had the same problem - just unscrew the cap and remove the sock!

I checked through a variety of possible causes - draining, slipping belt, poor motor connections.Apparently high mileage machines can do the "Click Around" when the motor brushes are worn too short and or making poor contact but mine were OK and cleaning the commutator made no lasting difference.

When I asked a local appliance repairer he said that this common problem probably accounts for the high number of recent Indesits in the scrapyard.
You can try (after switching off the machine) locating the main control board which is in a long slim plastic case in the bottom left corner of the machine when you have removed the back panel. Make sure that there is still no power connected and undo the circuit board edge connectors and remove it from its horrible casing with its crappy clips. Avoid touching components on the board and spray WD40 or circuit board cleaner on both sides. Reassemble.
WAIT UNTIL THE BOARD IS COMPLETELY DRY BEFORE SWITCHING ON THE POWER.
This really should not have much effect but it is what some repairers will do to get an extra 6 months out of the machine.

This is the longest lasting (about two months so far) fix that I have found.

Good luck

Had the same problem, Called engineer out, Main control panel faulty. fitted new one £55 fitted works fine now, He did have to programme the chip via his laptop so dont think this is something that can be done at home.

I had the same problem and found that there was a sock stuck in the machine. On the front of the machine at the bottom there is a panel you can take off and underneath it is a round dial you can take off which will probably have a bit of water left in it so be preperared and once removed check to see if anything is stuck inside it!
