The bobbin thread cannot be picked up by the sewing needle no matter what I do. Can you tell me what I could possibly be doing wrong?

I have used the wheel to lower the needle for the bobbin thread and then raised it (even several times). The only thread there...is the needle thread and the bobbin thread is still underneath the arms.

Hello Judy,
First make sure you have a good needle in and in the correct way round, if that fails you may need to retime the machine, if you email me I will attach instructions for timing, type my address as you say it not as you see it bacuse this site no longer allows email addresses to be shown.
