Hi I tried that did not work for me but did ring bt they say base unit is broken try buting just anothe base unit onnline google

This is so annoying, but I think I just worked it out. See p.27 of manual, 3rd para in margin. It tells you to press & hold down the 'rewind skip' button on the base, until it says 'message alert off'. Hope that solves it!
