Is there something wrong with my Servis XL6?

I have a Servis XL6. When I take my washing out after the cycle has finished, it smells funny. I've cleaned out the filter that's at the bottom of the machine near the floor but someone told me there's one inside a pipe somewhere in the machine. Is that true or can anyone shed any light on why my washing should smell so bad after being washed. I use surf and lenor and I havn't changed from them for 4 years but this problem has only been happening for a few weeks.

There is only one filter & you already found that. The smell is due to bacterial growth in the tub & it is caused by eco friendly detergents/fabric softeners & low wash temp. Run a 90C program once a month & add a small dose of chlorine (bleach). Clean the door bellow with bleach/hot water mixture as well. There are also a few off the shelf products you can use, check out your local supermarket. In my experience a high temp maintenence with a little bleach works just as well...and its cheaper.
