location and removal of starter motor courier diesal van?

is there a relay for the starter
stuart, October 2009
On diesels there is nearly always a seperate relay in the starter motor circuit that is controlled by the immobiliser module

Sort of - starter motors take so much current that a special beefy switch is needed (starter solenoid (switch (a relay really)))- usually mounted right on top of the starter with a big fat supply cable running off directly to the battery. The "start" contacts of the ignition switch energise the starter solenoid (relay switch).

There may be an intermediary realy in the circuit but I doubt it - can't see what purpose it would have - what it might achieve.
