My diesel citroen berlingo started with no problem this morning but died after about 10 seconds. Then it wouldn't start again. When I turn the key I can hear it trying to start but just won't fire up. The tank was 1/4 full yesterday and I filled it up (with diesel) last night. Any ideas as to what this might be?

Aha the HDi has an electric fuel pump in the tank, and they do pack up....thats where I'd be looking! You can tell if its upset because the fuel filter gets full of metal filings.

It's 5 years old and it is HDi. It's been totally reliable up until today!

It sounds like there is air in the fuel system for some reason...how old is the Berlingo, and is it HDi?
