bmw316i ?

my car is loosing power at about 4000revs and when you put your foot down its ok i got told it was a poss cat does any 1 know where it is under the bonnet and how much it would cost.

Exhaust cat is normally below the exhaust manifold often within the first exhaust box. When they break up they often restrict the exhaust gas flow hence loss of power.
Proof may be found in bits comming out of he exhaust or on removing the exhaust box it will rattle.
