refrigerator not cooling?

I got a electrolux fridge model ER6641T and it's not cooling. I have searched the net and someone has had the same problem as me and someone replied that it's the themostat and they should bypass the thermostat. The person have not replied to say if they have sorted the problem so i was was wondering if someone knows how to bypass the thermostat before i go and buy one.

Okay if it is not starting at all then it probably is the thermostat. So put in a new one. Bypassing it will get it started but as I said before it will no longer stop and will freeze everything.

I turned the power on and put my hand on the compressor and i could not feel or hear it start.

The thermostat turns on the compressor motor when the fridge is warm & off when it gets cold enough. If you bypass the thermostat it will never turn off & run 24/7 freezing everything you put in it. First decide if the thermostat is faulty. Turn power on at wall & check that compressor starts by listening or putting your hand on it to feel if it is running. If motor shuts off before the fridge gets cold maybe only running for 5 - 10 minutes then the thermostat is faulty. If however the motor runs for a long time ( say 1 hour or more ) and fridge is still not cold then the problem is more likely to be a loss of cooling gas in the pipes.
