My 2001 2.0DTi Zafira is showing a Spanner Light and all the symptoms of EGR valve problem i.e. not exceeding 3000 rev and going in the limp mode. When I connected the diagnostics computer it shows no errors!! Screen on the dash says the word 'SAFE' - can anyone help what shall I do.

I have same problems ie won't rev above 3000 revs and vauxhall donostics showing no faults and suggested ecu but I am not convinced with ther answer as fault is intermittent so I am still trying to find a answer to my problem very frustrating

Dear Vaux,
Thanks for the prompt response - its highly appreciated - I will try disconnecting a sensor and see if it responds. I have got the ABS light on as well and again there were no error codes. The scanner I used was a generic one - I borrowed from a friend. The car seems to work fine upto a speed of 60mph and then suddenly loss its power - rev wont go pass 3000 and the speed wont increase. Thanks again for quick response.

What code reader were you using? Vauxhall diesels wont work with just any reader. You might have to take it to a dealer and get it checked on their Tech2 machine.
You could try deliberately introducing a fault by disconnecting a sensor then see if your reader can spot the fault.
If you take it elsewhere for diagnosis tell the technician if you have had anything disconnected to avoid false readings.
