E2 signifies a motor fault, (except in this case it was a supply induced main board error).
Quick Fix - Press and hold the Start/Pause button till the display flashes "8888" then turn the Selector Knob COUNTER CLOCKWISE One Click (ie to the last available program setting). Turn off the machine and restart.
If the motor is faulty it may immediately return to "E2" Error mode, or you may be able to limp through a few loads (or at least finish the current one).
For me the fault was due to the power company's ripple control upsetting the electronics. The board is to be replaced under warranty to prevent further issues.
