how do i fix my veritas alarm?

I HAD A VERITAS ALARM PUT IN JUST OVER A YEAR AGO. ON EXACTLY A YEAR SINCE IT WAS FITTED, WHEN UNSET THE SENSORS BEEPED WHEN I WALKED PAST THEM. I RANG THE ENGINEER WHO SAID IT WAS A REMINDER HE HAD PROGRAMMED TO GET IT SERVICED???? I SUSSED OUT THAT I COULD TURN THE NOISE OFF BUT A MONTH LATER THE WHOLE ALARM LOCKED DOWN AND WILL NOT SET AT ALL NOW!!!!!!!! I DON'T WANT TO CALL HIM OUT AS I SUSPECT ITS SOMETHING THAT HE HAS DONE TO THE SYSTEM. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT.

If the service timer has been programmed then once it's locked out it can only be reset by an engineer. First problem is that you probably don't know his code, secondly, he has probably locked the engineer code in. This means that even if another company crashes the panel to default, the engineer code will stay and they won't be able to reset it. This was suppose to be a security feature of the Veritas panel. The only way to fix it, is to have the panel sent away to be defaulted by Texecom, who make the Veritas. I would question any installer who puts in a service timer without customer consent, as one, it is sharp practise to assume the customer wants the panel serviced, and two, he is probably opening himself up as being liable in the case you get burgled, as he has purposely made your alarm useless. Sorry can't help more, if you need more information please contact me at info (at) frostsecurity.co.uk
