Where can I get hold of a Potterton Profile 100e boiler casing hinge part?

I have a boiler that is fully functional, but it is missing the L-shape bit of metal that is half of the hinge on the top left side of the boiler casing. without it, it means the boiler is not air-tight and therefore the gas has been disconnected. The boiler is now obsolete as 19 years old. But if i can get hold of that tiny bit of metal, the boiler would be working and fine even given its age. Can anyone help?

Your question is in Washing Machines but no matter...

The cover retaining brackets on my Profile 100e are pop rivetted onto the casing - winter is coming on - a new boiler might cost you £2500 (double through British Gas).

You might consider calling in a small mechanical engineer to manufacture and fit a new bracket - when I say small mechanical engineer I do not necessarily mean a short person - just someone content to take on small bespoke jobs - An hour to spec the job and measure up - an hour to make the part and another hour to fit it - £200 perhaps - squirt with some aerosol white paint and no one need ever know it had fallen off.

The Profile 100e was last made in 2001 but I doubt that they have ever provided this particular part as a spare.

The bracket is L shaped - Mild Steel - 17mm wide x 17mm high x 20mm front to back - there's a 5mm rear facing lip on the top - a piece of steel 17mm wide by about 45mm long costs pennies - bending is easy as is drilling two holes.

Good luck...
