HOTPOINT C367EKH - ceramic solaglow hob goes on and off?

I have a HOTPOINT C367EKH with 4 ceramic hobs one is a solaglow,dont know if this is supposed to happen but the hob comes on fully for a few seconds then goes off again for a few seconds.
