HOTPOINT Washer dryer - not spinning .. making a grumbling noise?

Hey guys
I own a First Edition 1100 machine and it gets to the end of the rinse cycle then stops with water clearly visible in the bottom of the drum - say, about a quarter full.

After the end of that cycle, instead of moving on to the dryer mode, it just sits there ...

Any ideas as to what's wrong with it ?

Thanks in advance

My Hotpoint washer dyer only proceeds to drying automatically after the wash, if timer is set. The water in the tub may be a rinse hold setting selected automatically on delicate wash programmes ( usually the second half of the dial) which needs to be actioned manually e.g. pressing a button. you can download a handbook for your machine on the Hotpoint website if you have lost your book. www.hotpoint.co.uk. could also be a blockage in your pump preventing the programmer advancing but that would prevent anything happening after wash cycle

Must be something about November and this model, as I just has the same thing happen this afternoon - basically it wouldn't go into spin cycle and finished the programme with a pool of mucky water in the bottom.

I found that by removing the outlet hose from the waste pipe, I could see water WAS then draining out, and the machine then worked properly again - so maybe the waste pipe was blocked and removing the hose and putting it back in cleared the blockage.
