how can i replace the rear wheel bearings on my vw polo mk4,?

How can i replace the rear wheel bearings on my vw polo mk4, the ones now are nakered!The garage want to charge me a fortune so i thought id tackle it myself.

Hi Toby, www.gsfcarparts.com for the bearings £8.50 per side, its also a good time to replace the rear shoes at the same time and consider replacing the whole drum £11.50/side.
With the drum off, with a large screwdiver or better a copper drift the outer race's can be driven out of the drum, then clean the area with some 800 wet & dry sandpaper, then to fit the new outer races you will need a 36mm & 28mm socket to act as drifts to get the races in and a large hammer, a good tip is to put the new outer races in the freezer overnight then as they have shrunk slightly they can be drifted into the hub easier, then use plenty of axle grease into the bearings and then hammer the oil seal onto the inner bearing.
