Thermostat not triggering my boiler?

The boiler is firing up as normal to heat the water tank, but its as though the thermostat is telling the boiler that the temperature is fine and doesn't need to heat the radiators, even though its freezing. Any ideas?

Wouldn't it be nice if questioners gave feedback as to whether the problem was fixed and how!!!!!!!!!!!!

i know this was november but andi pressumeits fixed now but for anyone with similar problemsit could have been something simple like an air-lock in the system start by feelingthe pipes before and after the pump if its hot one side and not the other then un screw the big screw at the fornt or top and release any pressure

Another thought; is the hot water hotter than usual?

If it is, it is likely that the diverter valve is stuck, a common problem on domestic central heating systems. Unless you are a gee whizz on the DIY front it means you need to call out a heating engineer. Mine went about 3 years ago. You can expect a large bill!!!!!!

What sort of thermostat?

Is it one of the old type with a round dial? If so take the top off and blow through it, there might be dust on the contacts.

BUT BEWARE, do not touch any of the parts!!! These old type thermostats have mains electricity passing through them. SO KEEP YOUR FINGERS OUT!!!!!!!!
