How can I mend my Tefal Express steam Iron?

There is no steam from the iron. The boiler is working OK but no steam is coming from the iron. What is the problem and how do I mend it?

I just got a replacement solenoid for my tefal 2930 generator, fitted it & works fine now.
Got it from Partsmaster.co.uk for £17.24 inc p&p

I might send the duff solenoid to Tefal as its the second one that's gone on this iron! Reckon they had a faulty batch of them.

That confirms my suspicions. Wykes wanted around £60 to inspect and repair it.

Tefal have a reliabilty problem which they are not addressing.
I wrote a stinking letter to the MD quoting the Sales of Goods Act etc. They sent me a brand new top of the range steam generator with an apology.

Sorry, I have not accessed this site for a while.

I have the same problem with a 2930 Tefal Pro Express steam generator.

I found that after leaving it on for 45 to 60 minutes it does produce steam when the iron button is pressed. Not much use for a claimed 2 minute to produce steam.

Try this and let me know if it does! If it does I let you know what I did.

These blighters can, according to Tefal, only be repaired by Wykes Electrical in Birmingham. I did replace the lead on another 2930 which still works OK.

It looks like the same problem that I had. the solenoid on the steam tank that opens when you press the button on the iron to let steam out of the tank via the hose is not working. You can get a replacment from Tefal they are about £26. you may have trouble opening the cover to the tank as security screws are fitted. good luck.
