HOW DO I FIX MY HOTPOINT VTD00P DRYER?

The drum on my Hotpoint VTD00P tumble dryer appears to have dropped and is rubbing very noisily on the back panel of the machine. When I remove the lid I can see that the drum is not fully forward like it should be. What has caused this? and how do I fix it

Just fixed this problem. In my case the shaft attached to the rear of the drum had worn down through the bearing which is held in the rear panel. The steel of the rear panel had then cut through the shaft leaving the drum to fall inside the machine - snapping the belt in the process. Buy a shaft/bearing kit. Unplug. Pull off kicking strip from front. Remove the top and then the right hand panel, undo screws for left panel so that the left panel can flop open a bit. Remove belt if still on motor spindle. Lift out the drum. Replace shaft on drum. Replace bearing in rear panel. Probably replace felt rings and 4 nylon runners on drum and front, if in your kit. Put belt (new?) on drum and refit drum, washer between drum and rear panel, putting shaft into rear bearing. Pull belt down over motor spindle - this was very hard to do but is normally hard, so I am told. Replace panels etc.

Hi, i found the same with ours when i came to replace the belt that had snapped. Have just fitted a complete 'drum shaft kit', bought off e bay and now runs quietly, with the drum sitting up square at the front. I think the main components that helped were the new nylon bearings on the rim of the front panel. But because it came as a complete kit, i changed the back bearing, felt seals etc. as well. Probably why the belt snapped. All up, took about 1 1/2 hrs from start to finish. Good luck!
