water collecting in fridge bottom on a regular basis. temperature control seems to be working correctly. what could be the problem

Do what I do, every 6 months clean the drain hole using a pipe cleaner.

Modern firdges have an auto defrost feature - to stop the build up of ice. Now and aging it gets a shot of warming, the ice melts and the melt water runs out through a litle hole at the back - your little hole is probably blocked - the water is unable to drain away and collects inside the fridge.
