You probably have pressed the right-hand button when
away from the car. This changes the coding and the fob
no longer matches the unit in the car. This is no problem. Aim the fob at the dashboard and press right
hand key ... gently . you may have to press slowly
about a dozen times. What is happening is the fob is
keying through different codes. when it matches the
inside car unit code the door will open then you can
cancel the flashing light on the dashboard. The Rover
has a safety feature.. it sends out different matching
codes every time you use it. The problem probably
was that you inadvertently touched the right hand
button when away from the car. This causes a mismatch between fob and car unit, because you changed the fob code but the car unit code could not
respond accordingly. If this works and it should,
avoid at all costs children sitting on fob, etc. or playing
with it which people tend to do, say, in a cafe etc.
Good luck ...
