Dashboard Lights - Full Beam, but it's not (Nissan Micra)?

I have noticed that when I turn on the lights on my Nissan Micra - the blue full beam light comes on - even when it is just dipped. When I push the lever forward to full beam, the lights do change to full beam and the light on the dashboard stays at blue. I'd noticed it was changing a week or so ago, when i could see it slightly turquoise when my lights were on, but now it's coming on every time! Any idea what's wrong or how to fix it, or whether I should just live with it?

This seems to be a common problem on Micras. Usually its the multiplug which connects to the rear of the headlamps. These black plastic connectors often overheat and partially melt or burn out - possibly due to having the headlights on while stationary for long periods (no airflow to cool everything).
Check that multiplug for loose wires or a burnt connector or just that the plug isn't pushed fully onto the bulb. If bunrt out you can get a secondhand one from a scrap yard (make sure its not burnt of course) and connect to existing loom (needs to be done properly).
