The heat stopped working in my Whirpool gas dryer, model number ggw9878pw0. The repair tech came out and said the thermal fuse needs replacing. I decided I can order the part and save money by doing the work myself. My only question is where the thermal fuse is located.

You drag out a poor service guy to identify your problem for free...then you decide you can do the job cheaper yourself? Then you ought to have paid more attention in class & looked over his shoulder while he was busy wasting time with a timewaster.
