to remove alternator.diconect the lower steering
column pinch bolt & nut from under vehicle ( please use jack vehicle stand,s etc disconect battery ensure keys removed from ignition , the steering wheel is locked with the wheels dead ahead & you won`t break the airbag clock spring by the steering wheel spining round)
ok you are under vehicle remove the lowest bolt connecting the steering coupling to steering rack remove and discard this allows column to push up towards the floor this will give you enough room to remove alternator coupling may need gentle tap with hammer/chisel avoid damage to steering rack pinion whilst doing this . Next disconect 10mm nut remove red wire ,disconect 3 pin multiplug awkwardish push on multiplug side to remove locking tang check wires for damage . Remove alternator belt ,air conditioning fitted req a tool to release belt tensioner and somthing willl have to be improvised however . If no air con fitted you could remove 3x fixing bolts alt and belt will then be free to remove. [be aware some alternators have a metal plate behiend alternator mark with paint before disasembly ]The belt being made of stetchy material could then be re used however the recomended repair is to cut belt replace belt as a tool in the kit is used to refit new belt .But you could use a screw driver and gently replace the belt ,bycycle chain fashion.[turning engine over by hand feeding belt on to pulleys] Reasemble and Renew steering column pinchbolt and nut tighten to spec 23nm ?
