where is the starter motor located on my Renault laguna 1.8 8v R reg

HOORAY!! Someone who actually puts some details in with the question!
It's on top at the front. You have to remove the air filter box and trunking to get at it.

On the 8v, to remove starter-

Disconnect the battery Negative.
Remove air filter box and trunking.
Take out the three bolts holding the starter to the gearbox.
Jack up the front of the car and support on stands.
Remove plastic undertray.
Undo and remove the support bracket at the rear of the starter.
Remove the two retaining nuts and disconnect the wiring from the starter solenoid. Dont lose the washers.
Undo the bolt(s) securing the bracket to the cylinder block then remove the motor downwards and out.
NOTE- there is a locating dowel on the rear mounting bolt, make sure you dont lose it.
If you intend to work on the car yourself I suggest you buy the Haynes manual number 3252, cost £20 from halfords, bookshops etc., mine has saved me a fortune.
