most problems are linked to the PCB(printed circuit board), if the display panel works then the top half is generally ok. The problem with the PCB, it governs the speed of the motor. If you dont maintain them you are putting additional resistance on the motor which also contributes to PCBs failing. heres a company that will repair them at a good rate www.4af.co.uk
