how can I replace the mains cable on my Dyson DC03?

I am an electronics engineer and would have no trouble replacing the cable if I could work out how to remove the mains swich assembly. As I live in France, there is no local dealer to go to, anyone know how to remove the switch?
thanks

Thanks. Having successfully followed the advice given here for my own DC03, I'd add that the narrow screwdriver is best placed either side of the upper edge of the yellow power switch, and not along the actual sides as I'd first interpreted the instructions. After that, look for the philips screw which is tucked underneath the power cable. Undo that and now the whole switch assembly will lift upwards. (There's no need to remove the long plate that you see on the inside of the flexible pipe assembly.) Crimped cable connectors are used which, with a bit of care can be levered open and re-used.

Hi, Just go to www.dyson-online.com and then click on ‘HELP & SUPPORT’ then choose either ‘Hints & Tips’ or ‘Technical Advice’. The site is fantastic. Good luck.

Hi Brian

You need a thin screwdriver. Put the screwdriver down one side of the yellow switch cover and gently lever it out then do the same for the other side. It pops off quite easily and gives access to the switch and cable. If I remember the mains cable on mine was glued into the sidewall and I had a bit of a struggle to free it but it eventually loosened up.
best of luck.
