Hi All,
Very much a noob here so sorry in advance for any stupid questions. I have just bought the above for a steal of a price as a bit of a project. Anyone know why the engine won't start when it is cold? Once it get going it's fine and starts fine but when cold it just won't catch and makes a chugging sound. Can start it on the kickstart (once i replace the worn teeth) but want to get the electric start going. Do i need a new carb or would a clean of the old one sort it? Is it a spark plug problem? (though i imagine not if it gets going on the kickstart?)

Any advice would be great.

i bet the auto choke jet is blocked,first thing to do is change the fuel if its been standing for mor than 6 months,then take of the carb its only held on with two bolts once you have taken foff the airbox take every jst out and use a high pressure airline to blow the jets through i use some sppecial jet drills but they are not easy to get hold of then put it back togather and see how it goes,the auto choke mechanism(black plastic) should get warm if its working while the bike is running ok good luck and no one is a noob each to their own i say i fix motorbikes and scooters for a living i cant fix pc's very well lol.

Clean the carb for starters, I'd imagine the choke mechanism is the problem. Is it manual or electric? Either ways I'd say this is the culprit.
Another thing may be the battery, if it's not in good condition then it mightn't have enough power to make the starter spin fast enough to fire up the engine.
If none of my theories make any difference then do a compression test on the engine.
