My parking brakes have seized?

My parking brakes have seized and I cannot move my car. They have been sticking recently, but have previously always released after putting the car into gear and applying some light pressure to the accelerator. Now they have seized completely. Is there any way that I can easily release the brakes?

Matt,

Sounds like one or both your brake callipers have siezed up, you can spray some wd40 on the springs to help release them, then a drop of oil to help lubricate them. I wouldn't advise trying to free them off by puting it into gear as this can damage your brake pads, you may have get new callipers, these can be replaced individually, normally cost around 70 to 100 pounds each.

Good Luck
