Replacing heater blower motor resistor in Holden (Opel) Astra 1997 TR ?

The car is a 1997 model Holden (Opel) Astra TR with a 1.6L SOHC engine. The resistor (and pollen filter) are not in the engine compartment and having removed the glove box, passenger side lower panel and passenger-side heater ducting its location is not obvious. I think I can see the clips on the pollen filter housing but this is directly behind the centre console housing the radio / heater controls etc and higher up than the heater controls. This location also appears to be different to that shown in the Astra TS service manual. Any suggestions?
