Ford Mondeio 1.8 TDI 1998 Model?

Car starts on key some times others not checked battery and shows 12.55-12.77 then connect another car via jump start fires up. But other times will fire up with battery at 12.45 when it sits in the sun jump in turn key hear a relay click turn key nothing. come home at night turn key it fires up.

Is this a starter motor problem or immobilizer?

Thats the thing the battery is brand new bought 2 days ago. Because i thought the same must be the battery.

Was ok for about 2 days then all of a sudden dead in the middle of the day in NZ so getting hot now then came home from work car started then i left the lights on for about 10min came back again it started.

But jump start it and it fires though maybe starter thats knackered because it needs the extra power to start then though imobi but cant be because it wouldent start with a jump.

Hi Dave, the battery voltage measured off load does'nt mean a great deal, you need to measure it whilst cranking the motor over, this will give an idea of the state of the battery internals, as it starts with a jump start it would tend to indicate a duff battery, Halfords etc will do a "drop test" to determine if the battery is on it's way out.
Does'nt sound like a starter or immobiliser problem
