rover 400-416-p reg, cannot get electric window to go up or down! stuck now with around half an inch gap at the top-seems like glass has moved out of place- not sure,it makes a strange noise when pressing button to go up or down as if its about to break the glass!- but doesnt move, seems to be jammed or knocked out of place! also now when opening the door handle -the handle/latch makes a slight scratching noise as if its scrapping against the glass, please help if you can- any rough costs or what I can to try and fix for as cheap as possible will be much appreciated

It seems your window regulator is at fault, the regulator is linked on to the motor and the cable you got to remove the door trim and have a look and see if the cable is broken or the motor is jammed, if it is then your best bet is to shop around at the breakers for a second hand regulator this is bolted onto the window with 10mm bolts i think for instructions how to remove the regulator look in car manual if you haven't got one buy Haynes manual or browse the Internet, Good Luck
