I just got a singer 328k a couple of days ago and after sewing for a few minutes the foot pedal made a popping sound and it started to smoke. After that I of course took it to a repairman and after listening to what happened he decided it was the capacitor and he removed it. After I got home I tried it out but now it won't respond to the foot pedal at all other than the fact that the motor seems to be producing smoke a couple of seconds after pressing the pedal.
Could this be an easy-to-fix problem or does it mean I'll need to get the motor replaced?
Hello Anna,
if the motor is smoking then it means a new motor, you have been unlucky in the fact that the capacitor has blown which is common but the motor going is a double blow.
