New Home: Janome - Harmony 4035 Sewing Machine

Unfortunately our sewing machine broke the other day. The needle broke and is stuck. Can't get it to work at all. I wonder if i might be able to fix it, but don't really have a clue as to where to start.....

My sewing machine isn't working too similar problem - we have opened it up looks like the timing is wrong the needle goes down to early so won't take the bobbin thread up- any help suggestions please

I was wrong about the needle breaking - this is the problem:
When you thread it up and then pull the needle down to pick up the bobbin thread, the thread circles around the bobbin, but does not pick up the bobbin thread.
it happened when a piece of cloth got caught and started to go into the mechanism. My wife tried to ease it out gently, but as she tried to get the cloth out something inside went 'bang' (not the needle). We wonder if perhaps it was a spring or something but hesitated to take it apart in case it was electrical.
does that sound as if it makes any sense?

Hello Leigh,
I take it you now have the needle out, you said you can't get it to work but what bit does not work, no power, not stitching, can you give some more information.
