how can i reset an immobiliser on a rover 214 1998?

i removed the battery from my car to recharge it, now the car won't start i think it's something to do with the immobiliser as my central locking not working is there a reset for the immobiliser

The battery might need changing in your key fob. hold the unlock button down for about 5 seconds then it should reset itslef.

refer to the previous owner for the security code. Or have a look thru the owner's service book - it may have been written down somehwere. If no go then you will have to call a lock specialist who will recode the immobiliser and issue you with a new security code and fob. Costs about 70 to 100 quid.
