Exactly the same problem on 2-year-old hob. Got advice from DMK on resetting, but didn't work. Got service engineer but he couldn't fix it. Quoted £450 for replacement element - probably as cheap to buy a complete new hob.

I have a similar problem with the HJA1633. This was purchase from Howdens in August last year but has only been in used for about 8 months. It has been reported to their service/repair subcontractors on 08450060006. I shall give you a progress report as soon as I get their feedback.
