feeding an overlocker?

I have a singer overlocker 14, threaded and ready to go but material won't feed through (unless foot's up and i pull through by hand), i have slackened off the pressure foot but think that maybe the feeds have dropped, the manual has no info on how to raise them. Maybe I'm just overlooking something simple as i'm new to this and it worked for the previous owner (genuinely!)Please help!!!

thank, I've tried these suggestions to no avail. There is a screw underneath, near the feeders which comes out but the casing doesn't move. I'm pretty sure it's just that the fedders need raised but can't work out how to do this? Thanks for your suggestions!

Hi PM, your problem may be just dirt clogging the feeder. Take off the needle plate and check there is no dirt inbetween the rows of teeth on the feeder. If this is cleen make sure the screws on the feeder have`nt come loose. when you have checked all that and replaced the needle plate wind the machine over by hand with the presser foot down on the needleplate the feeder should lift the foot. If it does and still dose`nt feed you need more pressure on the foot bar. (hope this helps)

You need enough pressure on the foot so you cannot pull the material with the teeth up, turn the balance wheel so the teeth come up and make sure they are just above the needle plate, if they are below the plate then you can undjust the screw underneath the machine near the teeth to raise them.
