I have had this problem with my SMEG A1.1. The hinges are spring loaded and it is the springs that would have worn. The only solution that I am aware of is a new set of hinges at a cost of about £35.00. The hinges are not actually screwed or bolted to the body of the cooker and the door will detach itself from the cooker if you know how to pull it out in the correct manner. I am now on my third pair of hinges for my SMEG A1.1 and this seems to be a design fault. I have just bought a new pair of hinges and am just about to have a go at replacing the worn hinges. The last time I had this problem I called in a SMEG repair engineer who removed the oven door in a couple of seconds. It will probably take me a couple of hours!
