With extreme hand shredding and alot of cursing. I have done my belt and replaced my pump and it is not a nice thing and I have been working as a car enthusiast for 35 years. My advice is to pay the piper and save the stress and the skin. Remember these engines are completely assembled and then shoehorned in from below on the assembly line and the clearance is very tight.
