Could I (a woman:)) replace a BSI unit (I think) myself?

The left hand indicators on the car only work randomly and intermittently. The car is in for its first service since I bought it (its an S reg 206) and I have just been quoted £279 plus vat and labour to repair the indicator problem. As there are lots of other things that need repairing and it will be very expensive compared to what I paid for it I am wondering if this is the sort of thing I could get from a breakers yard and fit myself? Help please anyone?:)

I found a company called BBA-reman who will refurbish your bsi unit for £125

because they refurb YOUR unit, there is no need to reprogram it to your car fitting is simple and guides can be found here

hope this helps as i have the same problem and i know how you feel

Hi Jenny, the fitting of the unit is quite simple, the difficult bit is programming it, you need the correct computer diagnostic programming kit, that's where the stealership's make their money!!! you might find in yellow pages an autoelectrician who has the required kit and would come to your home to do the re-programming
