this started last evening accompanied by fluctuations in System pressure gauge on boiler. On advice from gas co. I switched off boiler and ran the cold water tap in the kitchen for about an hour. Noise changed to quieter rhythmic rattle when water ran and eventually stopped. However issue recurring now since 530 am this morning, running cold water again is working but when I switch off the rattle/wheeze starts again. Be grateful for any advice, tks.

Loud noise on my boiler turned out to be system was not getting water because filter at the inlet pipe of the boiler was blocked with scale (junk). Plumber can turn water off at boiler, open and clean filter but this is only temporary - my system needed magnetic stuff put into it and then drain and refill - the magnetic stuff got rid of the junk in the system and hasn't reoccured
