rear heated window not working (ford focus 1.9TDDi 2002 estate)?

press the rear heated window power button on the console & the led illuminates to indicate that power is there, but window does not demist? the orange strips on the window are all in tact with no breaks?? how do i locate & access the windows electrical connectors to ensure that there is a sound electrical connection. is it possible the electrical connection is broken due to repeated opening and closing of the boot door??? any otherr suggestions????

I had this exact same problem. It turned out the heating element was not rounded. The grounding point for the heated rear windscreen is on the right right hand side of the boot frame if you are looking at it from the rear of the car.
You will need to remove the plastic trim and I found that there was a loose wire hanging there not connected at all. I crimped a loop connector onto the cable and used a self tapping screw to connect it to the frame. Works all the time now.

I've got exactly the same problem with my Focus 2.0 TdCI 2007 hatchback. I've checked fuse and I'm moving onto relays but Ford, helpfully, no longer document the relays in the owners guide. :-(

if u have a circuit tester then just check wire strands on window for power should light up if ok if not good chance you have a broken wire at boot where rubber boot protecting it .
